More information
Immerse yourself in a world that has been devastated by a mysterious force known only as "Sin". Where human existence teeters on the brink of extinction, it's up to you to save the beloved homeland of Zanarkand. With integrated voiceovers and a host of new features, Final Fantasy X sets a new standard in gaming for the PS2. Are you ready for the next big step in role playing games?

In Final Fantasy X, the main character, Tidus, is a star player of blitzball, a full contact sport. After miraculously surviving the destruction of his homeland, he awakens among ruins and thereafter meets a young woman named Yuna. As a summoner, Yuna must travel to distant temples and learn the secret art of summoning aeons-powerful spirits of yore, in order to defeat "Sin." Tidus learns that a thousand years in the past, mankind lived in spectacular cities and relied on machines for everything, until Sin suddenly appeared and destroyed all civilization. Now, people shun technology, and no one knows when "Sin" will strike again. Final Fantasy X features a distinct Asian influence, bringing a fresh feel to the characters, music, settings and story.

Final Fantasy X will also be the first in the series to feature voiceovers for the characters. James Arnold Taylor ("A Moment of Silence") and Hedy Burress ("Valentine") will voice the main characters in the U.S. release of Final Fantasy X. In addition to the game's voiceover dialogue and fluid gameplay-to-full-motion-video transitions, Final Fantasy X offers fully 3D environments that seamlessly integrate real-time movement with battles, allowing yous to walk around and engage in battles on the same field map screen. Life-like, high-polygon, motion-captured characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fantasy VII, VIII, Parasite Eve, Parasite Eve 2) bring realism to the screen. As seen in previous Final Fantasy titles, you will be able to enjoy new mini-games, such as mastering the sport of blitzball and the Al Bhed language, plus engage in the all-new "Sphere Grid" battle system.

Too Good

I had to buy this thing 2 times as i sold my first one by mistake. Friends this is better than FFXII In so many ways. Grab it before its gone just like FF7 and FF8 which is almost getting rare on the shelves.

Masterpiece

The first FF game I've ever played and in saying that probably the best one I'll ever play.

From the start FFX pulls you in with its intense storyline and detailed characters [except for the protagonist who annoyed me] it's not an easy game to put down. While playing this game time seemed to fly and before I knew it, I was clocking up mass amounts of hours to this very game.

If you're looking for a great RPG game that you're wanting to invest time into then this game's for you. You won't be let down as the experience gained is well worth it every minute spent attaining it.

Unforgettable

Of the FF titles I've played, this one is my favorite by a long shot.

Great story, great characters, great cinematics, great music... great game.

one word.... MAGNIFICENCE!!!!!!!

this is by far the greatest game i have played in my life..... indeed it is well worth the money....the story is absolultly amazing.... it has your tragic/ happy moments.... but again it is about a group of people who find each other supposedly and end up saving the world with a love story which ties it in a great compilation of brilliance... it is truly a game of magnificence... the graphics are still some of the finest today but upon it's release in 2002 im sure it would have been the celebrity of it's day.... im sure even now it remains one of the greatest games of time. this review like prior before me does not do it justice....

a great game

This game was probably the BEST Final Fantasy game I have played so far. I have yet to play FF XII, but considering all the rumours and comments I've heard about, it's going to have a hard time overcoming the phenomenal game that is Final Fantasy X.

The story is so immersing and touching, you can't help but keep playing. I put in 20 hours straight in the first 2 days. That's how addicted I was.

This review doesn't do Final Fantasy X justice. Buy the game. *thumbs up*

A GREAT RPG EXPERIENCE!!!
5 stars Reviewed by Dylan on April 22nd, 2007
FFX is yet another great addition to the Final Fantasy, and Sqauresoft/Enix Legacy!!!!

It keeps alot of the traditional final fantasy elements that we have all come to know and love, including:
- a romace between the main female and main male character.
- a standard black mage; white mage; extremely strong melee attacker; lightning fast thief who can't do damage to save her life; ariel attacker; blue mage (kimahri's overdrives for those who are wondering); and your all-rounded character!
- summon magic
- etc, etc, blah blah!

BUT... it also has new features to give it that sense of certain uniqueness the has displayed in most FF titles!
For example the new Spheregrid system, where characters gain "move" ammounts through battle exp, and use these "move" points to navigate around the spheregrid! while doing so, players can use various types of "spheres" to unlock abilities and improve stats.
The spheregrid is inactual fact an INGENIOUS device (incase anyone disagrees) due to the fact that: once you have completed a character's grid (say Yuna's, who sucks at attack and defence, just like any other white mage), you can unlock or teleport her to Auron's part of the Spheregrid, where she will begin to excel at strangth and defense, and gain a lot of HP! This allows for TOTAL customaisation possibilities creating hundreds of possible character outcomes!

The graphics are also quite amazing (during the CG and FMVs) with a decent soundtrack and some great game play!

simply... just BUY THE GAME!!!

Best Final Fantasy Ever!!

X has got to be the best FF ever, not only does it have superb graphics, but the story line is soo immersive, you just can't help loving it! Even FFXII out now, this is hands down the best FF ever

Best PS2 game
5 stars Reviewed by Anonymous from Auckland on February 6th, 2007
This is probably the best PS2 game (other then guitar hero, but thats different). It has an awesome story, heaps of stuff to do and heaps of side quests and replay value. Its a bit different then the older final fantasys, but I reckon it's a lot better. For $35 you get one of the best games ever and 130 hours of gameplay if you want to fully beat it and probably up to 200 hours because you'll want to do it again. So basically it's 20cents and hour to play this game! If you don't have it, get it now!

Best RPG

A step in A direction

I'm not quite sure how to rate this game. It is different than FFIX and VIII which has many good points but many down sides as well.

1. The game is now practically all 3D. IX was almost sprite orientated with the camera scrolling over a 2D plane. Now the camera moves around the characters making it seem like a movie. This makes it easier to get into the story which has the main theme - Death.

Good points: Game is more emotional. Graphics are amazing
Bad points: Game is slower. Less replay value.

2. The game is very linear (straight forward). In previous games you would often have to trek over the world to find your destination. This time round, there is no world map. It is just one long path with no crossroads.

Good points: Game is quicker. Storyline easier to follow
Bad points: RPG experience lost. It feels like your just watching rather than playing.

The gameplay is pretty similar to IX and VII except it's slower, no longer in real time. I liked this but it made the game so much slower.

If you've played Morrowind on Xbox and loved the endless world, you may not like this game. If you've enjoyed the previous games in the series, you still won't be disappointed.

An epic story
Reviewed by Richard on December 13th, 2003
Final Fantasy began in the eighties as a simple RPG and has evolved into a world famous series. Squaresoft produced this title as the first PS2 Final Fantasy title, and it is a real winner. The game's graphics are incredible - it makes the graphics in FF8 look like a child's drawing.

The beginning will simply blow you away. Tidus is a blitzball player, which is an underwater sport in a giant sphere of H2O. You sign some fan's balls, then all hell breaks loose. You meet a cool but mysterious man called Auron in a red cloak and fight some easy battles to introduce you to the new turn-based system of battle, then are warped into...

... The future? Well, the plot is a little far-fetched, but that's what you come to expect from Final Fantasy. As the game continues your enemies are revealed. The battle graphics are superb. There are not as many spells as we are used to but still more than enough. The storyline is immersive and battles are fun.

There is no card game, but enough mini games to keep you happy. Gameplay can be repetitive if you want to level up a lot, or win lots of blitzball games, but that's the only flaw. Seamless 3D environments and beautiful girls... What more could you ask for?

Nice work Squaresoft

Square Soft have kept the great reputation of their series Final Fantasy with Final Fantasy X. The graphics and game play are clean and beautiful, and the introduction of the Sphere Grid as a style of customizing your characters allows for great diversity within the game.

The main highlight of this game is the amazing cinematics, really showing the beauty of this distant land and its inhabitants. Another great point about the game is the freedom; For beginners using the Beginners Sphere grid allows you to get to terms with the style of the game. With the Advanced Grid you have very little limits as to where you go with each character, allowing advanced players to customize their characters in any fashion they like.

If you have been a great follower of the Final Fantasy Series, this is a must for your collection.
