Perimeter is a real-time strategy game built on the concept of territory seizure using detailed terraforming and on the subsequent encircling of these zones with a special protective perimeter. The game combines proven principles of controlling resources and unit groups with titles featuring a clear-cut seizure of living space. The gamer has three powers at his or her disposal: The first is terraforming. The second is being able to surround areas of land with an impenetrable force barrier generated by special perimeter units. The third power is being able to carry out military operations with the help of ground and air forces.

To succeed gamers will need to tend to their expanding perimeter and plan activities depending on the environment and its resources as well as the actions of opponents. Perimeter takes place in a detailed science fiction universe and embraces an epic plot centered on the fate of a civilization that once abandoned Earth. The gamer participates in important events that happen along an extended timeline covering several centuries. Perimeter also features rich multiplayer opportunities including contests with opponents via a local network and the Internet.

The title does not copy current RTS products but instead offers a well-balanced combination of new terraforming principles and territorial wars with traditional strategy elements. The brand new game engine combined with the well conceived and original game design results in a top tier product. So in a few words Perimeter is the first RTS title that features real-time terraforming spiced up with territory wars and zonal control.

Perimeter is a game that will at first confuse and bemuse you, then frustrate you, then reward you.

The Perimeter experience is a tough one, playing through challenging level after level, with some so hard you wonder at first if it is really possible, then when you finally beat it it seems like all the stress was well worth it. When you pick up an RTS title, take it home and start it up, you think just before you first get to take control, that it will be another point and click strategy game. I must say the first thing I thought when Perimeter started up was "What the @#$%" as it was incredibly different to anything I have played before.

It would be impossible to explain Perimeter to truly justify it's innovation. But I can promise you that if you get to learn the workings of this truely amazing game, the competitive multiplayer will keep you entertained for hours, as every moment is incredibly tense.

As for negatives, well there are a few glitches. The AI is fairly predictable. There could be more multiplayer game modes. The announcer is gauraunteed to get to you, and sadly there is no option to disable his or her annoying comments (base under attack, base under attack, base under attack). But these minor setbacks are meek in comparison with what is truely new and innovative. If given the chance, Perimeter who easily compete with the likes of Warcraft and Starcraft in competitive strategy and fun.

Oh one last thing. Don't expect to be able to play it smoothly on your machine. On a highly populated map, on high detail I can barely push 20fps, and I have a high end machine. But this game doesnt need its beautiful graphics to still be a wicked game.
