Product Description

Killzone is a squad-based, first-person shooter, set in the near future during a period of planetary colonization. Drawing inspiration from classical military conflicts of the 20th century, Killzone captures the intense reality of warfare between the ISA Command and a ruthless, militaristic separatist faction called the Helghast.

Featuring four playable characters, Killzone provides several gameplay modes including single-player, multiplayer (team based and competitive) and online play for up to 16 players. Players can equip themselves with an armory of more than 27 different weapons inspired from today's modern weaponry. In particular, there are 21 first-person weapons that the player can carry, five emplaced weapons, and hand grenades. More than 11 intricately detailed environments showcase the harsh setting of a war-ridden planet, coupled with a unique graphical style designed to capture the grit and realism of intense military engagements.

STORYLINE:
For years, the success of planetary colonization has resulted in several planets to become inhabited by humans. While the majority of colonies have aligned to form the ISA, the Helghast, a ruthless, militaristic separatist faction have distanced themselves secretly planning to scale an all out war.

Killzone takes place during the initial Helghast blitzkrieg of the nearby colony of Vecta. As Vecta City's orbital defenses mysteriously fail, the Helghast have been able to land and deploy their troops rapidly and with ease. As the planetary defense forces become overrun and scattered into the city, the initial objective as an ISA member is to escort a high-ranking official to an evacuation point.

This is a pretty good game, not the best to come out on the ps2, it has an average story line and the end is not the best, but the multiplayer features in my opinion is worth buying the game for. i have spent hours just playing friends online and it does not yet bore me.

Terrible game, a renter AT BEST

The seriously aging PS2 hardware can not run this resource-hungry game game properly.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! or if you must satisfy your curiosity, rent it first; you'll be glad you did

    Try before you buy!

If you've done a bit of research on this title, you'll notice the gaming world is a little divided. PS2 owners are hailing this as one of the best FPS on the PS2, if not on all platforms, while the game critics are hailing this as a bomb.

Well, I'm a PS2 owner, and I can safely say that this is bar none one of Sony's most profitable disasters. The game is one of the worst FPS in recent history (I would have said "the worst" had it not been for a little something called Red Faction 2). The frame rate is never smooth. The AI, lauded as being one of the most intelligent, is no better than your 2 year old cousin. Basically, this game has tried to bite off more than it can chew. Plain and simple, The PS2 cannot handle graphically demanding software, it is the weakest machine out of all three consoles. Moreover, you need only play the first level of the single player campaign to know exactly how the rest of the game is gonna look.

But, for some reason, this game sells. It has sold so much that Sony have already started work on a sequel... oh goody. Whoever Sony have employed as their advertising team should get a Nobel Prize, because they have warped the minds of nearly every PS2 owner... but not this one.

    great game

this is the best playstation shooter yet, i dont know why it got some bad reviews its only problem is lag which hasnt happened much to me and online is tops. if you own a ps2 and like FPS you must buy this.

    Best PS2 Shooter.

While being fairly linear and somewhat generic, it does have a lot of innovations and does not bore you. The only real issue is the framerates, there are hardly any points where the game seems to be running smooth and there are other points where the lag isn't the best, most likely caused by the PS2 capabilities.
