Product Description

As this is an import only product stock is limited -- get it while you can! (All import titles are in English and will work in Australia.)

The release of Suikoden IV sees the popular series make its PlayStation 2 debut in Europe, and Producer Noritada Matsukawa and his award-winning team have pulled out all the stops to produce an absorbing role-playing title wherein the player guides a party of heroes through a number of missions, facing an increasing danger as they explore.

The plot of Suikoden IV is a closely guarded secret, but Matsukawa-san has revealed he is working with Junko Kawano - who was part of the original Suikoden team - on the fourth game's story and character designs. The game's basis revolved around the mysterious Rune of Punishment, but he also disclosed that the series' famed 108 Stars of Destiny are poised to return, and can be recruited to join the player's cause. While the plot remains a secret, though, the gameplay has been massively reworked, with the familiar 2D views of the original games replaced by vast and rich 3D environments. In another first, Suikoden IV also takes the player on to the high seas, as they traverse the game world to distant shores.

The new aesthetic make-over is similarly enhanced by new dynamic lighting effects, while the many monsters, would-be allies and adversaries the group faces are highly-detailed polygon figures. Suikoden IV also benefits from the series' most advanced combat system to date, with the team pooling their spell-casting and weapon-based skills to counter the game's larger foes, while a myriad of new combination attacks are possible - all of which are shown via a roaming camera.

Fairly good

I found that Suikoden IV fits into the whole Suikoden storyline perfectly with returning characters, ancestors of characters in later Suikoden games, new runes and mysterious characters..

However if i were to play this game for the first time with no knowledge of the suikoden series what so ever i would probably have found it quite odd and confusing. But yeah as i said it fits into the Suikoden world perfectly.

terrible

graphics...ok
lead character (you)...looks like a human from the pokemon universe
story....boring
very easy game and probably the shortest suikoden i've played

very disapointing for the suikoden franchise

It Was Good But Not That Good

Well what can i say about Suikoden IV umm it was interesting and to play, the graphics have changed from 2d to 3d which is good but worst of all the game is based on water and water army battles.

Yes this Suikoden is different from the other Suikodens that i have played where it was based on land but yea i guess they tried to change it a little but travelling on the sea all the time is so annoying.

They have changed the usage of 4 players instead of 6 which is dumb and they dont have unites anymore just combo attacks which you can level up. There is nothing new in the battles either which i find really boring.

The storyline was good but the game was so short and yea you dont get the feel with the characters anymore cause theres nothign special about them, theres just not that suikoden feeling.

But Overall i found the game great in some areas like the character voices in the game the graphics and the music but anyways just give it a try.

If you liked the previous suikodens you might like this one.

Not the best Suikoden.
