Product Description
The ultimate Nintendo hero is taking the ultimate step... out into space. Join Mario as he ushers in a new era of video games, defying gravity across all the planets in the galaxy.
When some creature escapes into space with Princess Peach, Mario gives chase, exploring bizarre planets all across the galaxy. Players run, jump and battle enemies as they explore the many planets. For Mario to succeed, gamers will press buttons, swing the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers and even use the Wii Remote to point at and drag things on-screen.
Features:
- Shake, tilt and point! Mario takes advantage of all the unique aspects of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller, unleashing new moves as players shake the controller and even point at and drag items with the pointer.
- Mario essentially defined the 3-D platforming genre with Super Mario® 64, and this game proves once again that he is king. Players perform mind-bending, lowgravity jumps across wild alien terrain as they experience platforming for a new generation.

Game of the year, say no more.

Best game I have played in a VERY long time. Most people however will never finish it because you have to be pro to get 120 stars. The purple comet levels are hard and are only unlocked after getting 60 stars. (which is easy)
One tip: Never miss a comet early in the game, it will make end game so much better.
Just buy it, It is THE game of 2007.
Boring

Its not that great because its really easy to complete and it is short for a mario game.

Aswome game, is in my books the successor to Mario 64. Now playing through for my 5th time. Enjoyed throughly since purchase.
A must get for any Wii owner.
Absolutely mind blowing

The reviewer below is horribly mistaken. This is the greatest platformer to come out since Mario 64. This game is fantastic. Get a Wii just to play this game. There is no game out right now that comes close as far as platformers or any games go.
A Must Have

This is my first time playing a Mario game, and it one of the best I have ever played. It is the most fun game. The only hiccup is the swimming portions. If Nintendo gets that right, then it would be perfect. The level design is amazing, and so much variety, that players do not do the same thing over and over again. If you have a Wii, buy it - which I'm sure all did. If you are buying a Wii, get this game.

This Is Just Another Above Average Platformer.
The Xbox And Ps3 Have Much Better Games Such As Uncharted, Ratchet, And Halo
This Game Is Short. Very Few Extras And Has Frustrating Controls And Camera Angles.
If Your Going TO Pick Up A Wii Just For This Game, Dont Bother. Get A 360 Or Ps3

Absolutely amazing. One of the best experiences I've had with a video game. Nintendo has truly come up with a remarkable game that surpasses Super Mario 64 and Sunshine in nearly everyway. With unique level designs and an amazing atomosphere to boot, Galaxy stands as a remarkable gaming achievement on par with Ocarina of Time. Graphically, it stands as the best on the Wii and goes to show that artistic style can sometimes best graphical power. Definately worth buying. A must have for every wii owner, or anyone for that matter.
Just Mario

The wii is an innovative console and it can be fun, ill give it that, but it gets very repetitive and gimmicky very fast. Playing the old mario games, again, in space with motion controls is not very original. The wii may have had large sales, but microsoft owns the majority of the gaming market, and nintendo is still the company at the back making family games, not games of the year. And im pretty sure microsoft have released more top rated games than ninendo in the past few years.
GOTY 2007.

Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii is hands down the best game on the system if not the best game released this year. It is Platforming at its finest. The visuals are on par with a PS3 or 360 game with componenet cables...no kidding. The controls are simple yet Mario has a lot of moves at his disposal especially with the upgrades you can acquire to collect more stars. Marios attack...well his main one is done by a shake of the wiimote...however jump is assigned to A which is good and responsive as many Wii games that use a flick to jump arent exact enough. There is a massive total of 120 stars to collect...im 9 hours in and have only 30!!!!! Some of the levels themselves are difficult especially when your given a 4 minute time limit to complete them. The galaxies have much variety and I can tell you Nintendo put alot of thought and effort into this title. It really shines through as well. Definitely GOTY imho...its that good...better than Mario Sunshine? Definitely...better than Super Mario 64...of course...this game surpasses all previous Mario games.....go buy it now!!!

The must own Wii game!! If you're struggling to choose out of the various Wii games available, choose this one. It has an easy, laidback style of play, certainly a game to pick up and play after work, or to keep the kids busy. It's essentially an updated, modern remake of the same Mario gameplay. That doesn't make it bad, it's just the best game out there for Wii, and fun. Not game of the year material, but still a good game that'll keep you entertained and not frustrated!
Best console game ever

I am sure that the person that wrote the negative review below doesn't own a Wii because EVERY Wii owner should buy this game!!
I have previously played many different consoles including ps1, ps2, xbox, xbox360 etc and every game I bought, I got bored of it within a few days. However this game is keeping me going since the release date till now and I am enjoying it so much!!
If you don't have a Wii, this game is a very good reason to go and buy one right now.
Absolute Brilliance

It IS the game of the year. It is a fact. Nintendo haters go and write bad reviews to give you shoppers confusing information. Dont listen to (that *ahem* other review) as they obviously have not played this game. In my opinion the Wii has released ten times the amount of good games than Microsoft and Sony. Another fact is that Nintendo are kicking MS & Sony as Sales of Wii and games worldwide is just so much higher.
The game, on the other hand is Game of the Year. It DOES live up to the hype if not BEAT IT, unlike the disappointing Halo 3.
Absolute Junk

This is a short review.
This is the same mario game people have played for 20+ years!
It is utter junk to be repeating the same gameplay over and over across nintendo's cheap and silly knock-offs of mario bros. There is nothing original in this game what-so-ever and i don't recommend this to anyone.Playing mario from 20+ years ago in space with a wii-mote does not equal GOTY.This game is uninspired, unoriginal, and just plain dull! Yet Nintendo will continue making this along with other junk for many years to come.Don't buy this junk,I'd say rent first, but tbh, don't bother/

Amazing

I've just found all 120 stars, finishing the game (well, there's one more surprise after doing that, it's quite cool).
I think I can say that in my 20+ years of playing thousands games on dozens of different systems, Super Mario Galaxy is a contender for 'best game I've ever played'. Improving on the 3D Mario games that have come before it, taking cues from other games such as Donkey Konga Jungle Beat, presenting itself with gorgeous graphics and an amazing fully orchestrated soundtrack, using the Wiimote's unique capabilities in intuitive and non-intrusive ways, and polished to a blinding shine, Mario Galaxy is, simply put, an amazing game. My expectations for this game were high, but it managed to exceed them. It's clear that the people who made this game cared deeply about it, were passionate about making the best game they could. It's full of that old Nintendo magic. It reminds me why I love games.
Stand-out features? The soundtrack ... classic and new Mario themes are brought together by an orchestra that makes the experience epic and moving by turns. The boss battles, similar in feel to Jungle Beat's, requiring quick thinking and precise timing. The Luigi stars. The brilliantly epic confrontations with Bowser, again enormously improved by the amazing music. There are more, but it's better to discover them for yourself.
Nitpicks? Yes, I have some. There are two levels, both Purple Comet levels, that are frustrating and unfair. The camera, while excellent for 99% of the game, can be frustrating for that remaining 1%. But really, that's all I can think of. 99.9% of this game is joyful, pure, fantastically fun gaming bliss.
