Sporting the size of a traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote controller is a multifunctional device that is limited only by the game designer's imagination. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket you swing with your arm. In a driving game, it serves as your steering wheel. For first-person shooters, the remote acts as your weapon that you point at an enemy. The list of potential uses goes on and on.
Using Bluetooth technology, the wireless Wii Remote controller sends your actions to the Wii console from as far as 30 feet away. As a pointing device, the controller can send a signal from as far as 15 feet away. Up to four Wii Remote Controllers can be connected at once, making for some great multiplayer fun!
In addition to its pointing and motion-sensing abilities, the Wii Remote controller also includes a speaker and expansion port for additional input devices, such as the Nunchuk controller.

What Sony's six-axis should feel like

This has to be one of the most versatile controllers in video gaming history. Along with nun chuck its the only actual controller you need, so in all fairness the price of buying both is negated by the fact you don't need to buy a separate steering wheel for driving game, or a separate gun for shooting games (cheap plastic moulds just use the conventional wii remote). This sensor system works well and gives games a totally interactive feel.

Oh, Wiimote... the innovation you contain is amazing. Although sometimes I fear I'll fling you through the TV in my excited swings.. lol

You can buy a bundle of both the Wii Remote and Wii Play game for just $10 more than the remote itself.
Great Value!
Also, as long as your sensor bar is positioned properly there is no issue with connectivity in my experience whatsoever.
A second remote is compulsory for playing every decent multiplayer game on Wii, and is a great time with friends.

Nintendo have been fairly decent over the years, they have always gone against the grain and not payed for it. The Gamecube was a little bit silly with the mini custom discs but the games kept the Nintendo degree of quality, while lacking a little in the graphics department but making up for it in the fun of the game. The Wii remote is a clever design but it has flaws, the wireless is a touch jumpy and the range is mediocre. But the expansion port and built in speakers was genius. But what I don't understand is why they didn't bundle the nunchuk. For this price you would expect a little more.
Sony botched their SIXAXIS but the price is almost acceptable, but why Nintendo came up with this is beyond me...
