The must have sailing game for all sailing fans. After having VSK3 and 4 VSK5 is the ultimate sailing simulator. Gone is the 17 degree heel angle when sailing upwind or downwind for the ACC boats. You now have to constantly change it all the time to get the best out of your boat, but this is made alot easier now by sailing in auto trim mode and by useing the wind arrow which you keep green for optimin heading. If you turn out of the wind one way or the other the colour of the arrow changes to either red or blue. Sailing this way in VSK5 is more accurate than in VSK3 or 4 and even some of the top notch sailors say sailing in auto mode is better than what they can sail in manual mode. The umpire system has been over hauled in this version and is more accurate. The only draw back now imo is that if you get a penalty you can now ask the boat you got it off, for them to cancel it which is being abused. Just going back to the sailing angles in the ACC, you now sail downwind with a TWA of between 160 165 which is more akin to the real ACC boats.
On the graphics side of things the ACC boats are modeled on the 2007 ACC boats. The sea looks more realistic. The landscapes are far more improved and Valencia where the 2007 ACC is being held is done in photo realistic scenery. All the old favourite courses are still there from VSK4 as well as the other boats.
Overall a very impressive sim which I would give 9 out of 10. So if you enjoy sailing get out there and buy this game and have fun.

Single player - Very pretty, does a good job of capturing the look and performance of the AC boats, but still leaves a bit of a gap between the still a tad too arcadey tactical setting, and the pure, no aid Simulation setting.
The major replayability comes from online play. I am running a ADSL 256 connection and it runs fine.
Most games online are fleet races and on the tactical setting, so its reasonably easy to play well, but hard to excell. The game still has quirks with some penalties, but that comes from the way that the game interperates the sailing rules, for the most part its correct and online matches allow you to petition your opponent to cancel the penalty if it was in error. that just leaves it up to the honesty of your opponent.
In summary, its a pretty and fun Americas cup game.
It would be nice to see a game in the future that incompasses more in terms of a campaign/team management mode in addition to just the straight out racing, but maybe someday in the future.
Definitely dependant on online play to keep playing after you have won the cup once!
Graphics - 4 1/2
Sound - 3 1/2 (not much but its realistic)
Physics/gameplay - 4
Single player - 3
Online play - 4 1/2
Average - 4
