Product Description
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is an explosive open-world action game set in a massive, highly reactive, war-torn world. A power-hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply, sparking an invasion that turns the country into a warzone.
Mercenaries 2 features the latest and most dangerous in civilian and military tech, everything from shiny new sports cars, to the future-tech satellite-guided bunker-busting mini-nuke. Tanks, APCs, boats, luxury automobiles – you name it, you can have it delivered to you in real time. And if you run out of cash you can always 'acquire' the gear you need in the field
If you see it, you can buy it, steal it, or blow the living crap out of it. Play your own way, or play with the help of a friend in the new cooperative multiplayer mode.
Features:
- Cooperative Multiplayer! Play the main Mercenaries 2 campaign with the help of your friends.
- Play with fire! Ground breaking, general purpose fire technology lets you set fire to buildings, vehicles and people. Shoot holes in the sides of fuel trucks, watch the oil spill under the feet of unsuspecting enemies and light it on fire with a match!
- Travel over/under water! Don't worry about drowning ever again: use watercraft or swim to traverse the oceans, rivers and lakes of Mercenaries 2.
- Build your own Private Military Company! Increase and customize your support options by recruiting other mercenaries you meet in the game!
- A massive, reactive, and completely unscripted game world! The world of Mercenaries 2 is larger than all of the maps of the first game combined and is jam-packed full of colorful characters and environments. And this time, every action you make has ramifications throughout the entire country.
- Cool new toys! Dozens of weapons, vehicles and support options are available for to use to blow the crap out of everything! Use the new grappling hook to latch on to flying vehicles and commandeer them in the sky!
- Work for the highest bidder! Clients will offer you money, information and other resources in exchange for your services – provided you haven't done anything to piss them off!

Patch 1.1

Apparently a few bugs have been fixed but the thing I was looking forward to was the Widescreen issue, now more resolutions are supported
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames allows the user to select the same native supported resolutions that Windows reports available via the graphic driver. This means that the while in the game the user will only be able to select the same resolutions that are displayed in the Windows display properties.
PLEASE NOTE: USING A DVI INTERFACE CABLE TO CONNECT YOUR DISPLAY TO YOUR VIDEO CARD CAN SERIOUSLY LIMIT RESOLUTION CHOICES AVAILABLE BOTH IN GAME AND IN WINDOWS DISPLAY PROPERTIES.
v1.1 Bug Fixes :
When the user sets the shader level to low in the options menu, the user can set the shaders back to high again.
The user can now cancel a contract by using a controller.
The user can set the volume levels to high and low using the mouse properly now.
When the user fails to find another player using "Custom Match" the menu options function normally.
Joystick sensitivity now operates as designed.
Adjusting the view distance from the main menu functions properly now.
The user can no longer create accounts using "spaces" in their names, thus allowing them to search online for names properly.
Paper animations have been removed from the game.
All common 16:9 and 4:3 resolutions are now available.

I forgot to mention a few things in my previous review, another problem, which is strange for modern games these days, is that the max resolution is only 1280x960 which is annoying cause I have a 19" Wide screen, max resolution of 1440x900, but if you just mess around with Mercs2.ini you can put in a custom resolution (I read on a forum that it stops some NPCs spamming "I SEE THE ENEMY" but haven't confirmed it, I only read it, could be false/isolated), Graphics 7/10: Not perfect but they don't suck, explosions are great, Gameplay 6/10: NPCs stand there waiting, blocking your bullets with their face, shoddy driving, Audio 7/10: I'm usually listening to my own music but Mattias' quotes are cool, its the reason I gave it 4 stars, otherwise I would give it 2-3.
Mattias+Explosions=Cool

Ok, first the bad stuff, CURSE THE DRIVING, the controls are so badly done, its like Shinobido for PS2, they aren't so much configured badly just not as responsive as they should be which is really frustrating, and the NPCs keep shouting "THERES THE ENEMY" yet all I see is either more NPCs of their faction or civilians and sometimes theres frame rate issues, it slows down for a second (AMD 6400+ Black Edition, NVIDIA 8800GT, 2GB of Corsair RAM, no problems on R6Vegas 2, CoD4, Crysis, I KNOW its not my PC, I just reformatted), once they actually can be bothered making a patch I'm sure this game will be more enjoyable, the reason I gave it a high rating is blowing stuff up with C4 or a rocket launcher is so much fun, and of course, from the cover, Mattias, hes the greatest character ever, his quotes are great, makes the game worth it, after picking up an AK47 he says "I think I'll call you Louissa, come on Louissa, lets kill a whole lotta people!" or "Why can't everything be rocket propelled?", I have yet to try the others but Mattias is just kickass, the strangest thing is that I threw 3 grenades (1 after the other) at a statue (purposely trying to commit suicide cause of a botched mission) with only 5 hp left, and I still survive after all 3 grenades blew up with 2 hp to spare.
