"Friggin Awesome"

Dam this game rocks, you can go anywhere you like on the map. And the vast amount of weapons and vehicles you can use is awesome. You won't be disappointed if you buy this game. A must for any collection. A big step up from the original Far Cry. The pyshics are truely amazing, fire actually looks like fire.

Poor effort console port

Far Cry 2 is OK but by no means special. For a game that has you sneaking around jungles and performing recon before attacking enemy encampments the fact that you can't go prone or lean around trees (PC FPS staples for years) is unforgivable. And you cannot access the monocle (recon zoom) without having your map up which takes up half the screen when zoomed out - makes it incredibly difficult to accurately gauge the layout of a base from affar and seems like a console throwback due to the lack of buttons on a controller.

Too many AI respawns, not enough feeling of an ongoing civil war, overall bland environments and sluggish controls let the game down in a big way. I'd recommend playing a real PC FPS such as Crysis and its expansion instead.

On its own this game is alright. Its fun for a while until crossing the map every mission wears off. Its obvious that this has been done just to increase the play time of this game

The problem is that this game is nothing that Ubisoft said it would be. It was supposed to be a realistic representation of a civil war within whatever country its in. Instead the two factions never fight each other and outside each of the towns everyone is your enemy. There is no sense of civil war. Just a lot of people standing around all day that wanna kill you for no reason.

Also everything was meant to be destructible. Well they decided instead upon small pieces of wood instead. If you drive into a sapling sized tree you stop. So not very destructible there.

The graphics are Ok but they are not good by any means. If people were expecting this to stand up to Crysis it falls a long way short

If you didn't hear anything about this game before its release then you'll probably like it. Most of the other reviews here appear to have been written on the hype of the game before it was released so don't trust them completely

good but not great

When I first heard of this game I got really excited about it. When I saw the live demos I really could not wait to play the game.

However, when I started playing I found out that close combat battle proved to be really difficult and that sniping from a distance was the best way to approach each situation. This did get slightly dry after a while though..

My biggest complain for this game though is the driving. It pretty much dominates the gameplay and leaves slightly less time for shooting and run 'n' gunning.

time to say...

Avid fps and far cry 1 fan. bought collector edition on pre order, couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Yes the graphics are great, but the game is simpy dull, boring...all dev time must have been spent doing the graphics cause the rest of the game is non-existent. this is gonna go down as the game that should've, could've, would've...but didn't

Incredibly Fun

Far Cry 2 is certainly like no other shooter. It is an experience which succeeds in every way. The story, Graphics, and Gameplay are all simply phenomenal.

Graphics are an important feature of Far Cry 2. Not only does the game look wonderful, but the character and animal models are very realistic, too. This is one of the best looking games I have ever played.

Based in Africa, FC2 has a great storyline, and good sound effects and music to match. With the release of expansion packs via the Playstation Network, this is a game you will be playing for months to come.

Incrediblility at its best

When I first heard of this sequel, I was skeptical at first.
The African setting, story, graphics etc all got to me a little. But, after seeing videos, reading reviews, it is safe to say this IS really a major contender for GOTY 08/09.

I wont say/spoil anything so i will like anyone who reads this to
