Featuring some of the most realistic warfare ever, ArmA 2 promises to build on the excellent features that have made Bohemia Interactive a respected name among gamers. So, you can expect in-depth team-based combat, a comprehensive playbook of military tactics and an enormous battlefield to push your strategies to the limit.
ArmA 2 benefits from a game engine that has been in constant development for 10 years and no other developer can offer such a great heritage in creating open-world military shooters. In fact, Bohemia Interactive is so skilled at producing realistic warfare simulations that the developer has used its Real Virtuality engine as the basis for training simulators used by armies across the globe, including the United States Marine Corps, UK Ministry of Defence and Australian Defence Force.
This experience is also helping Bohemia Interactive to craft an incredibly detailed storyline, full of political intrigue and plot twists, which blurs the boundaries between fact and fiction. Set in the near future in a fictional post-Soviet country called Chernarus, players take on the role of a United States Marine Corps Force Recon squad, who are called to the country as a peacekeeping force to prevent further civilian casualties and ensure ongoing stability.
Features:
- A whole new chapter in the ArmA franchise with new characters and an in-depth story
- Unlike most war simulations, ArmA 2 focuses on team play – including co-operative play, the ability to switch between team members and dramatic moments when you must give first aid to team mates
- Improved AI for team mates and enemies, now they use cover, hide and work better as a unit
- Dynamic conversations and events that shape the storyline
- Incredibly realistic game engine that’s been used by the military for combat simulations
- Comprehensive online multiplayer modes
- An extremely strong modding community among the ArmA 2 fans

TERRIBLE

A terrible buggy and annoying game. I was such a fan of Op Flashpoint and looked forward to this. So much potential, such a terrible execution.
A crippling blow to be sure.
Good Game

This is probably one of the most realistic Modern Warfare styled games (in featuring around 80 realistically represented weapons), it combines real time tactics and strategies as well as a fairly new "High Command" style to the game - This game is highly recommended. 4/5
A real test of skills and control

Have to say that the game allows you to learn plenty about controlling and commanding, the introduction and training is essential if you want to be able to get the most out of the game, but once you have mastered this you are in a unbelievable world of fun and challenge. Have not played on-line as not set up to do this but it looks from the ads and Blogs that this is top notch.
Everything is great, except the single player campaign..

Arma II is a first- and third-person tactical shooter that simulates a military operation in the midst of a growing civil war in the fictitious European country of Chernarus.
Despite an infuriatingly buggy single-player campaign and some artificial intelligence driving issues, Arma II turns out quite fun.
This is a very realistic game and spray-and-pray tactics will not work one bit. The average AI enemy, while a good shot, isn't inhumanly good and can be tricked or flanked. Unfortunately, the AI characters on all sides are atrocious drivers and have a knack for causing traffic jams, capsizing vehicles, and flattening allies.
GREAT GAME lacking improvement.

ARMA II Looks beautiful, performance is based on how you wanna play it, if you want the game to look great with all the bells and whistles, you're gonna need an Geforce 200 series G-card or and SLI setup. Otherwise be prepared to have the graphics seriously pulled back. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz CPU, 6GB DDR800 Ram and two 8800GT's in SLI and It runs O.K, far from impressive though.
The game still packs that great simulation experience, Sounds are great, distant gun-battles and jets or helicopters sound life-like, especially when they fly over you, even the odd sand fly buzzing around your head can make you wanna swipe at thin air =). Gun physics are very real as are the gun models, not to mention the cockpits of every vehicle modelled down to every fine detail.
ARMA II does have some let-downs unfortunately, The User Interface lacks improvement, but overall co-ordination and ease of use, in-fact I'd say it's even worse than the all original Operation Flashpoint now, because you have to memorize every command menu on your keyboard, and that just doesn't work especially when your in a battle floundering just to get your men to go prone or engage the enemy.
Another bad point is the AI, this I found to be a major let down and caused immense frustration as they would struggle with even the simplest of commands, Mounting a vehicle or Helicopter for instance proves to be a nightmare, they either don't react, take a detour around the forest before mounting the vehicle which was right beside them in the first place, or they just get stuck on something. I often find myself leaving most of my team behind and doing missions with just one AI or even none, it defeats the purpose of the simulation but it's far less frustrating.
Overall I think the game still holds that authentic feeling to it, but is lacking a lot of much needed improvement.
 | Great mil sim action

This game will take your breath away. Simulates everything right down to bullet ricochet. Performance is nowhere near as bad as reviews make out. I'm running an amd 5600 overclocked to 3ghz, 4gb ram, and a 260gtx. Can run at high/very high if infantry, or medium when flying, no problems. Gotta turn down draw distance to 6km but I havn't found that to be an issue. The game has some nice extra features, like an armoury mode that lets you practise with any vehicle or weapon. ARMA 2 has a few bugs, which can be annoying, but seriously, its multiplayer that really shines. It takes a while to learn but its a great game, you get out of it what you're willing to put in. Very easy to get addicted.
Arma 2 best Release of 2009

I played on the NZarma server and found the Game excellent in Multiplayer. This product is far superior to BF2 and is a True Military simulator. This is the closest you can get to real Warfare without endangering your life. This is no CS shootem up its a military simulator thats packed with Action and Realism. BI have superby blended in realistic Vehicles and weapons into the best game for 2009. The NZ Army have a similar product they use to Train Troops with called VBS2 so this product is used by the Real Military.

A long awaited title, surprisingly little improvement from the last installation.
If you were only a greenhorn at ARMA, don't expect to be commanding any Army anytime soon; ARMA II is one of the most hands on, full use of the keyboard games out. Nigh impossible to control every aspect of the game, with a weak AI which severely weakens solo playability, it may not be a good option for gamers that want a fix of shooting enemy combatants.
Multiplayer can be enjoyable, but takes extended sessions to become fully engrossed in battle.
If your a stay at home commander, with the macro of a Korean Starcraft player, you may be in for a challenge with this title.
