Product Description
The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.
Watch your squad grow from inexperienced rookies to veteran warriors A snowmobile race is just one of the new vehicle sections. Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4. You'll journey all around the world in the fight against terrorism
Many of the details on the game are still sketchy but it promises to feature an even more varied series of locales than the ever before, including a snowbound enemy camp that starts with a daredevil mountain climb across the ice before a stealthy infiltration goes awry and you have to run for your life by commandeering a snowmobile.
But that's just the single player mode - the multiplayer is expected to be even more ground-breaking than before, with new co-op options and even more rewards and perks for competitive play.

Thought Call of Duty 4 was great? Think again. Make way for Modern Warfare 2.
Expensive, but buy it - You won't regret it.
Simply put this game has an intense, action-packed campaign. A hugely engaging cooperative mode and, believe it or not, an even more rewarding multiplayer.
Modern Warfare 2 starts 5 years after Call of Duty 4 (CoD4) and the original protagonist (Soap McTavish) is now your Captain. For those who don't like that idea never fear - Throughout the campaign you will play from multiple soldiers perspective which takes you all round the world.
Single-player fans have their main campaign, which is solid but nothing awesomely outstanding. Sure there's breathtaking cinematics, amazing level designs, marvellous detail and a fairly varied gameplay but overall it's nothing we haven't seen before. Simply put there's nothing at all wrong with it, but there's nothing right with it. Don't let me put you off, it's a far better story than most games out there, but for most people buying this, they aren't buying it for the single player.
Never fear though if you're down for more co-op gameplay either locally or via PSN you've got Spec Ops mode, and Modern Warfare's mindblowing multiplayer is back, and truly more incredible than ever. There's an overwhelming amount of content but with each mode being completely standalone, you're getting three completely different experiences all in one. Co-op, Multiplayer and Single-player.
You won't find yourself lost - there's always a waypoint icon on-screen showing you where to go or who to follow, and the dialogue and voice acting is superb. Games don't usually delve to the depth where I once found myself receiving fire from multiple enemies until my squadmember shouted, "Tango behind the green dumpster!" And sure enough there was a guy behind a dumpster that was, in fact, green. Most of all, it was an unscripted event adding a degree of realism that I hadn't ever experienced.
Multiplayer. Holy crap. Huge amounts of content await you but I can't go into specific detail because there's too much to describe. What I can say is that everything you loved about CoD 4 online has been multiplied by a hundred. And that's no exaggeration.

COD is just getting better and better

Having played the first game of this series (COD 4), I was thinking how activision can top that effort. I was pleasantly surprised.
The campaign is still a little short in my opinion but it was thoroughly entertaining. I played through in normal at first but with PS3 trophies up for grabs I did it again in veteran mode.
The extra spec op mode made me feel I can get more out of the game after the campaign mode. Five level of challenges some pretty tough. I still haven't got through to the end on that yet.
Then there is the usual multiplayer mode. Not as laggy as COD 4 in my opinion though it is frustrating to play at times because there are too many players out there that are deadly accurate!
Fantastic again from Activision, I bet the next one won't be too far away.

This is one of those games you'll be playing for a long time. After you finish the amazing campaign, you can either tackle the Spec Ops mode and try to finish seperate missions featuring elements from the campaign or go to the best area of the game: The Multiplayer. The multiplayer features more weapons, killstreaks, call signs, emblems and challenges than any Call of Duty to date. Want an example? There are over 300 unique call signs to unlock!
War on the Homefront

This is what you could call it, when america wakes up to find that war has erupted on their doorstep, one wonders what exactly would america do?
Modern Warfare 2 answers that question and pops a few grenades out along the way.
Although i wasnt a huge fan of the Multiplayer (mainly cause i lost) changed once me and a friend cracked into Spec-ops (co-op) and now sniping missions simply arent the same anymore.

Havent stopped playing this since I got it.
Single player is short...but who cares this game is all about Online Multiplayer, and infinity ward has raised the bar again.
If you only buy one game this christmas..THIS IS IT!!!

Awesome game however I thought it would blow my socks off but had it finished in 2 days. Grafics are great and the new array of weapons rocks. cant wait till COD MW3.
I will now try the online gaming as I have heard that is teh way to go.

Single player has great plot, excellent gameplay and I totaly love the storyline.
The level of detail of the graphics is outstanding (water looks so real it'l make you thirsty)
The guns are just sexy. And the AI isn't too bad either.
Multiplayer
It is addictive, so many was to customise your weapon of choice and its always good to challenge other players around the world to test out your skills.

The campaign was great and overall gameplay was good but as soon as you get online the game is ruined. Anyone I play with from New Zealand finds the game way too laggy online if you are playing with anyone from outside of Australasia and you are always redbar its a bit of a disappointment for me.

Absoulutely perfect. this is what precisely this game is.The all-new Campaign is back, with action packed sequences, and a truley twisty story that will leave you for more. Special Ops adds a new variety to the game, trying to play through each mini-mission earning you stars to unlock other missions. The beloved Multiplayer is back, with new weapons, perks and a whole lot more maps to fight with your friends on. I give this game a 9.9/10, a true step up from the original Modern Warfare. I reccommend this game to anyone who likes a gripping, awesome First-Person-Shooter!

Overall this game is a very good game overall. the game was a bit short which was dissapointing but the gameplay itself was up to the usual call of duty standards. Multiplayer is good offline and especially good offline.

Pretty short campaign, but makes up for it with online multiplayer, and the awesome special ops mode for co-op play. Great visuals, average story, but lots of action. Really great.

I have followed the COD saga through from part 3 until now! I didn't think there could be an improvement on modern warfare, but modern warfare 2 far exceeds it with its new challenges and graphics. Believe the Hype!!!

Modern Warfare 2 is undoubtedly the best game of all time, boasting the best graphics (almost lifelike) that any gaming console has ever seen. The storyline is also great, picking up from where Call of Duty 4 ended, with a few unexpected twists and turns along the way. If you are contemplating buying it, then do, you wont be disappointed.
$130 for a 5 hour Campaign

Modern Warfare 2 is amazing, the graphics are stunning and the sound is beefy. However the Single Player campaign is actually quite disappointing, with a weak story and I was able to finish it, on the first playthrough, in about half the time it took me to complete Uncharted 2.
I give the game 5 stars because in the online mode, it really shines and is what you should definitely buy this game for. The Special Ops mode is also a great inclusion and is fun and challenging.

arrived on release date at 7.00 am in the morning, excellent service fast and friendly...... the game's multi player is great, their is a new system that puts you into game's with out lag so even if you have a red bar you can still own i got a 10:1 KDR with a red bar.. their are a insane amount of attachments and perks... haven't even gotten to the single player or special ops as the multi player is so much fun.... 100% perfect so far......
The $135.00 price was worth it by far.

Single player is just as amazing as MW1 but even better with soo many more guns to use and find such as dual pistols and double barreled shotguns. I can see why they ask you at the start of the game about how you may find some things in the game disturbing. The bit where you play along side karkarov or whatever is really umm graphic and maybe a bit unnesseray but owell. Multiplayer offline is amazing because of the create a class finally being avaliable offline and being able to go to level 70 in an offline game is good because it gives you something to achieve towards so that you can unlock all the weapons for create a class. I am going to assume that online is just as great as the lat one. Overall even though many PC people have shuned it , it is stil awesome, fantastic, amazing.

I was amazed at first when mighty ape gave me the lowest price around and sent MW2 for free. I was expecting a 3 day wait like other online stores but it showed up the day it was released, and i live in Christchurch!
MW2 is amazing. From the amazing amount of create a class like adding thermal imaging to your sniper rifle then throwing a smoke grenade to snipe unsuspecting enemies as they drop dead through the smoke screen to the new multiplayer things like turrets and 11 choices for your kill streak rewards.
If you haven't got this game... Your missing out!

I've watched pretty much every preview online and this game has taken customising to a whole other level you have different killstreak options and a much BIGGER arsenal of weapons definetly a MUST on the FPS wishlist.

Over rated game, 5-6hour campaign, more of the some multi player except a few tweaks with lamer kill streaks.
Best addition is the Spec Ops mode. Dont expect too much from this game. Activision is getting greedy as well over charging for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1.5.

If Modern Warfare 2 is anything like modern Warfare 1 this game will be big. Plenty of new weapons makes me think the multiplayer is going to be amazing and not mention the single player. 10/10 as far as im concerned

i have seen trailers for this games and it looks great...... this will beat Modern Warfare 1 by far.
But why is it so expensive..... i have heard from some friends that it is selling cheaper in JB HI-Fi stores and i thought that Mightyape would have sold it cheaper than in the stores.
Even if it is expensive fans of the Call of Duty series should buy it is worth it :D

after playing al of the other titles in this serise this game by the sounds of it is going to stand out above al others, nu guns , nu maps & online game play is one to be seen
& if you where lucky enuff to get in an order it with the bouns
the night vision goggles are a great add on if ur a fan of this sort of war games . fully rate it

Call of duty 4 was a breakthrough when it came out and is still being played by many many gamers. I woudn't be surprised if this game goes out of stock in the first few days of it being out. This game will be absolutely AMAZING

I've watched all of the on-line previews for this game and all I can say is WOW!! Can't wait for it to come out, it's going to be awesome!
You can throw knives, get sticky grenades and even call in an AC130 during an on-line play for getting an 11 kill streak!! (Thats that big gun ship that you get to shoot from in one of the missions on the campaign mode of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare").
Definately a game that you do NOT want to miss out on, you guys should definately pre-order this! Going to be way better than the first Modern Warfare, and that itself is a flipping awesome game! Thanks Mighty Ape!!

Why is this game SO EXPENSIVE??? Seriously I haven't seen a single NZ retailer charging less than $130. This isn't a slight against Mighty Ape, you guys rock, I've already got Uncharted 2 and Ratchet on pre-order at very reasonable prices. I suppose it's just Activision setting a ridiculous RRP but I might just have to get this on the PC :(

Infinity Ward changed the FPS scene and online FPS gaming permanently when they released COD 4: Modern Warfare, a ground-breaking game which was leaps and bounds ahead of anything else in its genre. Such dynamic, varied gameplay hadn't been seen in war-zone FPS games before. The game's so good it's still being played online by hundreds of thousands.
When Modern Warfare 2 was announced, there was a lot of concern Infinity Ward would drop the ball on a sequel. By now they've released several gameplay videos and keep dropping info on new weapons, multiplayer modes, maps. Living up to the hype will be difficult, but it really looks like this game's going to deliver another remarkable modern warfare experience full of innovative gameplay and the best action sequences in FPS gaming. The single-player campaign, there's a new co-op mode which everyone asked for, and the multiplayer's going to be the most popular thing out - again.

This game looks amazing the graphics are amazing and ive heard the story line is too not to mention the online play. Mighty ape has it for such a great price so its a must buy. I have number 1 (modern warfare) and that is amazing so this should be the next level in extreme gaming.

This game looks spectacular. Not just with the detail but with the graphics too. I wouldn't be suprised if it wins 'Game of the Year'. Overall, it looks stunning, well-done and an intense 'shooter'. Can't wait!!. First chance I get Im preordering this game. Modern Warfare 2 may be the most anticipated game of 2009, I can't disagree with that!!
