Blizzard files trademarks

A Tumblr blogger has stumbled upon three trademark registrations filed last week by Blizzard Entertainment referring to the name "Cataclysm".
The three filings are applicable to computer games, printed items (such as computer game instruction manuals) and online games (specifically computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network).
We're not sure if this refers to a World of Warcraft expansion, or if this could possibly be an indication of a new IP from Blizzard, but the filings certainly appear to be legitimate.
We may learn more at BlizzCon '09. Or, it could just be another StarCraft: Ghost. Thanks Blues.

SEGA has today revealed more details about their upcoming third person action shooter, Vanquish. Directed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, players take the role of Sam, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battle suit. Set in a near future world, the US and Russia compete for fast-diminishing energy resources. A space station built by the US to harness the power of the sun has been captured by the Russians and turned into a weapon of mass destruction, destroying San Francisco. Sam, and others like him, have been charged with recapturing the station before it can destroy its next target, New York.

Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella have filed a lawsuit against Activision via their legal representatives O'Melveny & Myers LLP. West and Zampella were fired earlier this week for breaches of contract and insubordination. The termination comes just weeks before they were to receive substantial royalty payments as part of their contracts for the development of the best-selling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
